Nine members of the 1954 graduating class of Lueders High School
gathered at the Ambassador Suites in Abilene on October 16, 2004. Those
in attendance were James Ray and Glenda Cox, Memphis, TX, Craig and
Polly Tonroy, Rowlett, TX, Aaron Petty, Tuscon, AZ, Sheridan Olson,
Glenn Commons, Clarksville, TX, Carole Ann (Felts) and Harell Petty,
Stamford, TX, Marilou (Douthit) and Glen Rydl, San Marcos, TX, Paula
(Hughes) and Mike Harrison, Abilene, TX, and Ramona (Mullins) Hamilton,
Irving, TX.
Paula and Mike had prepared some delicious food for us to eat in an area
adjoining their room, which she had reserved for us. A favorite was her
taco soup. We also enjoyed sandwiches, chips and dips, cookies, etc.
After eating we gathered around and talked and laughed and reminisced
about our elementary and high school years at Lueders.
We met for breakfast at 9 on Saturday morning in the atrium of the
hotel. Joyce Miller who left us in the 6th grade and now lives near
Abilene came by and visited with us. We spotted Robert Duvall and his
wife checking out of the hotel.
The Harrisons invited us to their house for lunch where we again enjoyed
the food they had prepared. We visited for a while and then went back to
the hotel.
Paula had made reservations at a restaurant called the Home Place in
Tuscola on Saturday night. Gilbert and Anna Petty joined the group for
that.
Everyone was most appreciative of the planning and preparations by Paula
and Mike; we are very grateful to them. We are looking forward to
getting together again during homecoming next year.
